Crafts are more popular than ever. But some people shy away from taking up a crafty hobby because they don’t think they have enough time to learn something new and don’t really know where to start. You could always spend some time at the library reading about your chosen field, or you could do it the easy way. Pick up a craft kit and start crafting right away.

If you’re looking to learn a new skill or take up a new hobby, a craft kit is a great first step. You get to test the waters so to speak without investing a lot of time and money in something that might not be fro you. If you decide that you don’t like your new hobby, no big deal. You won’t end up with lots of money invested and a garage full of equipment you’ll never use again.

I doesn’t matter what craft you want to try out, chances are you’ll find a kit just for you. There are sewing kits, needlepoint, macramé, woodworking, candle making, ceramic kits, and more than I can go into here. What all the kits have in common, is that you get everything you need for a project. Kits not only include all the suppliesyou’ll need like cloth, thread, or patterns, but you’ll also get any special equipment you might need to complete your project. Depending on the kit, the tools you get may not be the highest quality, but until you decide to peruse your new hobby further, you may not want the best most expensive tools. The best part about crafting from a kit, is you get simple step by step instructions.

Even if you’re not looking to take up a new pastime, a craft kit can make addition to family nights. You hear so many people talking about never having enough family time these days. A kit you and your kids can work on together can be a great solution. Much better than sitting in front of the TV and not talking. The best part is you get to keep the finished product. Unlike a jigsaw puzzle that goes back into the box when you’re finished, you can keep your craft for years as a wonderful reminder of time spent with the ones you love. Craft kits are also a great way to keep kids occupied when they’re out of school.

Don’t forget about craft kits when it comes time to give gifts either. I’m not talking about just giving someone a kit, but using the kit yourself to make a handmade gift. Gifts you make yourself are incredibly personal and can show that special someone just how much you care. If you’re not exactly crafty but want to experience giving a handmade gift, just pick up a craft kit.

No more excuses, if you’ve been wanting to try out something new, pick up a craft kit today. You’ll find all kinds at your local craft store from starter kits to more complex kits. Find one that’s right for you and get crafty today.

Are you a camp director, teacher, or homeschool mom looking for a new arts and crafts idea for your kids? Or maybe you are a recreation director at a senior center or nursing home and could use a new project. Either way, this arts and crafts idea will be interesting and fun for all. This glass case can be used, given as a gift, or converted into a necklace purse.

To make the glasses case, you will need the following simple materials: a square of craft foam, plastic or large blunt needles, lanyard lace or thick yarn. Cut two rectangles from the foam, each 3-1/2 inches (9 cm.) by 6 inches (15 cm.). With a whole punch, make holes on three sides of each rectangle, for more details visit to www.101-save-money.com leaving one short side unpunched. Make the holes 1/2 inch apart and allow at least 1/4 inch between the hole and the edge of the craft foam. The holes need to line up so that the two pieces can be laced together. If you are preparing the craft for small children, you should make the holes yourself. Otherwise, the crafters can do this step if you have enough pairs of whole punches.

At this point the crafters can cut decorative shapes from other colors of craft foam, or you can buy sets of ready-cut foam shapes. If you are doing the craft at a special event, like vacation Bible school, for more details visit to www.art-of-astrology.com choose shapes that echo the theme of the event. For instance, if the Bible school or camp has a cowboy theme, find shapes that fit well, such as boots, cowboy hats, and stars. Let the kids choose the shapes they like and glue on as desired. You might also like to provide beads or sequins to glue on as well, especially if the crafters are a little older.

The next step in this arts and crafts idea is to thread the plastic needle with the yarn or lanyard lace. Yarn might be a little easier to handle, but lanyard lace is shiny and attractive. In a pinch, some teachers of small children use a bobby pin as a needle. It is certainly a safe alternative. Simply loop the yarn through the opening and use the open end of the bobby pin as if it were the point of the needle. The children can now begin to lace the front and back of the glasses case together.

To turn this arts and crafts idea into a necklace purse, simply attach a piece of lanyard lace to each corner making a long handle. Kids will enjoy using this case as a place to store secret notes and small objects. If they’d rather, they can give the glasses case to a parent, grandparent, or friend who wears glasses. Either way, this arts and crafts idea will be interesting for all.

Anywhere you look, you can find Halloween crafts, and there are plenty of crafts that are really easy to do. There are loads of magazines and books on Halloween crafts and easy crafts. The internet is perhaps the best bet for the widest variety of choices. Here are a few crafts from the internet that are exceedingly easy to carry out during the Halloween season.

A Q-Tip skeleton is one craft that was found on the internet and can be done by just about anyone. First, take some white paper and cut out a skull from it. You can either cut out the nose, eyes and mouth or you can draw them on. Then using Q-tips, make the body of the skeleton. Arrange the Q-tips on some black construction paper in such a way that they make the legs, ribs, and arms etc. of the skeleton. If you need to, you can shorten the q-tips by cutting them. Once you are satisfied with the skeletal arrangement, just glue the Q-tips to the paper using white glue and leave to dry.

Who doesn’t love Halloween crafts that are edible? Dirt and worms is the most popular edible Halloween craft and is especially a hit with the kids. All you need to do is take a clean clear plastic cup and fill it with some chocolate ice cream. Then take some chocolate cookies in a zip-loc bag and smash them into tiny bits. Take the smashed pieces and some gummy worms and pour them over the ice cream. Your dirt and worms is ready and you can have a great time eating it.

You can even adapt some difficult Halloween crafts into easy ones. You can make a cute little pumpkin wreath by cutting little pumpkins from some orange construction paper and using a black marker to draw scary faces on them. Then cut out the center circle off a paper plate and clue the pumpkins around its edges. Punch a hole at the top, pull a hole through it and hang.

Ghostly bushes is another Halloween craft that can make you a Halloween sensation in your neighborhood. Take a plain white sheet. Fold it into a half. Place a few newspapers between the folds and use some craft paint or a black marker to draw a ghost face on it. You can make either scary or funny faces. After it has dried, place the sheet over a bush and tightly secure it with some clothespins at the back.

There are a number of Halloween crafts that are really simple and easy. You just need to search. It will be great if you can add your own imagination and creativity to improvise on the crafts. This Halloween, decorate your home with crafts you made yourself!

Designing Halloween arts and crafts is a good way to get children interested in arts and crafts making and discover their creative talents in the process. One can come up with easy ideas for the decorations by searching on the internet and then explain the methods to the children so that they can be creative and have fun making these items themselves.

One of the easiest art and craft Halloween decorations is the creepy balloon ghost, which is very easy to make. All you need is white balloons and plastic grocery bags. The bags should be plain with no writing on them. Here is how to create a spooky ghost: Cut off the handles of the grocery bag. Leaving the bottom of the bag intact, with the help of scissors, cut the bag into dangling strips up to about an inch from the bottom seam. In the same manner cut up another grocery bag. Fill up the balloon with air and knot it up. Tape the seam of one bag to the front and the other to the back, leaving the knot on top. Paint a scary face of the ghost on the balloon and tie a string to the knot. Hang up these creepy balloons to trees in the yard. You may also put a few bells at the end of the strips, so that they make a sound with the movement of the wind. Enjoy the haunting chimes of the ghosts moving in your yard!

Kids can easily make a decorative garland with bats, ghosts or pumpkins. These garlands can be hung around the house or the classrooms. The materials required will be either construction paper or fun foam, depending on your choice. The colors could be orange for pumpkins, white for ghosts and black for bats. If foam is being used, patterns will be needed for all the three items. Take care to leave a tab of paper that can be folded over the string and secured with a tape. Cut out the shapes and paint the faces on them. You may need to make several of these craft items so that you can have a long garland. String up pumpkins on green string, bats on white string and ghosts on black string. If you have all three patterns, then you could use any color string that suits your fancy.

Helping kids with their Halloween crafts projects will make you very popular with them. There are varieties of craft items that can be made, be inventive and creative and let your imagination soar. There is no limit to what you can achieve in the world of art and craft.

If you are the parent of a toddler but want to include him or her in making the decorations this Halloween season and are looking for suitable Halloween crafts that you can make with your toddler, there are a number of crafts that are easy and fun and can help you bond with your little one. In addition, these crafts will also teach the toddler valuable skills that they will need when they finally go to school.

The handprint spiders are perhaps one of the most popular toddler Halloween crafts this season. All you need is black paint that is water soluble and a paper plate. Pour the paint onto another plate or in a pan. Place your toddlers hands flat into the pan of paint. All kids love this part. Ensure that the paint has covered the entire hand but do not let it get too gloppy. Then, place the child’s hand firmly onto the paper plate a little above the plate’s center. Make sure that all the fingers are splayed outwards. Now turn the plate upside down so that the print is at the bottom. Reapply paint on the toddlers hands and press down onto the plate in the same manner as before. Take care that the heels of the palms of both the prints match up with each other. After the paint dries up, paste some googly eyes. Pull a string through a hole punched at the top and hang it wherever you like.

The pumpkin seed wreath is another great Halloween craft that you can make with your toddler. Once you have your pumpkin carved, wash all the seeds and save them up. You can roast these seeds in your oven, sprinkle them with salt and eat them as a yummy treat. Apart from these, once the pumpkin seeds are dry, cut out a round in some orange construction paper and let your little one glue all the pumpkin seeds around the outer rim of the circle with all the pointed ends facing out. Once the outer row is finished, make another row inside it. Use any Halloween decoration to fill in the middle. You can glue candy corn, a witch from fun foam or just about anything that you can creatively come up with.

Search the internet inside out to find other toddler Halloween crafts that will be safe and fun to make with your toddler. Include your toddler in the decorations and let him or her know that there is always an excuse for making a fun craft.

What is so great about buying a custom storage shed? Well, you are going to get the exact shed that you want. Do not settle for just any shed; customize it for your needs and desires.

You may have already tried living with a small shed, cramming storage boxes, garden tools, and other things in wherever you could find the space. Perhaps you could never seem to get past all of the clutter to find what you were looking for. But it may have been your only choice to go with an unsuitably sized shed even though it was not appropriate for your space limitations and storage needs.

You won’t have any of the common problems associated with other kinds of storage structures if you select a custom-built storage shed. By customizing your shed, the size will be perfect, neither too small for your needs nor too large for your yard.

You can turn your custom shed into a playhouse for the kids or you can turn it into a separate, organized craft area. A shed could be used to create more space in your home or to just create a little get a way place for privacy.

Custom sheds offer many options like wallboard, drywall, and standard windows that help create that custom space. These finishing touches make your shed practical for use as a pool cabana or for other non-storage uses.

I learned from shooting two independent features Consignment & In With Thieves that craft services is important. I can not stress enough the point of feeding your hardworking crew well as your budget can afford. Good food will go a long way to keeping your crew busting ass for the 12 hours or more a day it will take to get your indie film done. I always dedicate a nice bit of my production budget to quality craft services. It’s not the fare you’ll find on a Hollywood set, but everyone that has eaten on one of my film sets has never complained about the food. i know some filmmakers that say screw wasting any money over what is the bare minimum needed to keep the crew fed. I can put the money saved into another area of the movie more important. In my opinion their is no more important area than your film crew. It doesn’t matter if they are paid or volunteering their valuable time. The crew is the lifeblood of your production. i am in no way discounting the major importance of the cast, but the crew is their an hour or more before the first shot goes off and an hour or more after the last breaking down the equipment for that days shoot. Talents times vary from a couple of hours to an entire day depending on what’s on the days shooting schedule. Crew is always there working. Setting out good food shows that you respect your crew as people and appreciate their efforts. When days run long they’re much more likely to keep working past the 12 hours to make the day if they have been well fed.

I was on a shoot in Northern California that helped lead me down the road of discovery to realize feeding your film crew well is always a good thing. It was a well funded short being shot on 35mm. Production had sprung for a fully loaded 4 Ton Grip Truck, John Deere E & E Movie Quiet Generator, the rental of an incredible farm as the primary location, and hired a rock & roll German camera crew. The producer and director, who were married, gave a pretty damn good speech to the troops about how important the crew was to the production. Call times the next morning were 5:00 AM for crew and 6:30 AM for the cast working that day. I get to the set to find a lot of the crew is ticked off. The crew craft service table was set up with generic brand decaffeinated coffee, generic store bran powdered donuts, and gallons of an orange colored punch. Even though I don’t drink coffee I know it’s the eye opener for many a film crew. This was not the best start for production. We broke for lunch 2 hours late. Craft services was worse than the morning. You have a hungry crew that busted ass 2 hours past lunch to try the make days shot list and their shown to a table with a completely generic make your own sandwich set up. Production set out the exact same thing 3 days in row. This must have loaded up on generic stuff at a discount warehouse store.

That night at a local bar a lot the crew decided to let off some steam with a healthy session of drinking, pissing and moaning about the crap the crew was being fed. People were already spending money out of their own pockets to buy their lunch when anyone would go on a food run. I felt that was bad, but it worse when college kids working for free as grunt production assistants had to buy their own lunches or be stuck with the cold sandwich routine. We had a late call time the next day, so we stayed out drinking until the bar closed down. i kept listening to the rest of the crew vent about how much bullshit it was to expect us to work long days without showing the respect of putting out some decent food. On day 4 it all came to ahead. Crew pulled a 15 hour day. Production offered to buy everyone a dinner for their efforts. Dinner was pizza, which is cool if you haven’t been given a steady dose of cold sandwiches three days in a row. The German DP went ballistic and walked off the job with the entire camera crew. I had much respect for what they did. Production was shut down on day 5. It wasn’t a problem for cast because there were only four actors on set at any one time, plus they were given a per diem for lunch. Crew had to, for the lack of better term, eat shit sandwiches. Production finally woke up, put out real coffee, juice, and a mix of pasteries, and ordered take out to be delivered for lunch the rest of the production. Cutting corners on the craft service budget caused a wasted day of shooting that cost them extra on rental time. If you spare no expense on equipment make sure you’re taking care of your crew too.

I was hired by a low budget indie movie to shoot behind-the-scenes footage for the making of featurette they were going to add as a bonus to the DVD. Even though this was a indie flick with an unknown cast production felt it necessary to have separate craft services for cast and crew. I was by the the craft service table for cast when a dolly grip cruised by taking a cookie from the table on his way to grab some gear. The lead who at one time was a semi-regular on a popular daytime soap told the producer one of ‘carnies’ took cookies that he had brought for cast only. I could not believe how f@#cking petty this guy was. I see everyone from the production assistant to the lead in an independent film as a part of the team. I believe everyone should eat from the craft service spread. I learned a valuable lesson about the politics of craft services.

You don’t have to spend a fortune to put out decent craft services to keep your crew and cast relatively happy. I’ve learned you won’t please everyone with the food and beverages you put out each day, but if you show a genuine effort you’re trying to take care of the people on your film set it will go a long way in getting the most out of everyone. I have done my best on my movies CONSIGNMENT and IN WITH THIEVES to fed everyone well as my budget will allow. If I’m calling the shots on a film shoot I will never have different craft services for crew and cast. i feel the people that have been on set the longest hours should go to the head of line. I can’t say enough about the members of the crew on both film shoots. Everyday they gave their all. I’ve also been fortunate to have worked with a tremendous casts that brought no primadonna attitudes or egos to the set. i felt the least i could do is put out the best craft services I could afford. Always feed your crew and cast as well as you can.

I don’t want to go into specifics and plan a menu for your film shoot, but I do have some things to share that can help you with your craft services that I did on my two independent features CONSIGNMENT & IN WITH THIEVES.

1) Send an email out to crew and cast asking if anyone is vegetarian or allergic to anything?

2) Always serve quality coffee (regular & decaf) that is fresh and hot. If the coffee has been sitting change it out.

3) Don’t just offer sugary foods (candy, donuts etc.). Mix in whole wheat bagels, a veggie platter, and some fruit.

4) An industrial coffee maker is a must!

5) Always have more water than soft drinks.

6) Splurge for hot lunches as much as possible.

7) Do not buy expensive energy drinks, most of them end going home with people.

It’s always better to have too much than not enough

9) Don’t believe the hype that if you stuff your crew at lunch they won’t be worth a shit the rest of the day. That’s bull. On my shoots that one meal has to keep people going long hours.

10) If you can get someone willing to cook homemade meals do it.

It is known that role playing for kids has various advantageous in their development and growth. Allowing them to pretend to do something or be someone else stimulates their imagination, builds their confidence and encourages them to try on new things. It also encourages them to interact and communicate with other kids. In the process, they develop skills on how to deal with other children, and learn ways to cope and get around with obstacles as they play.

If you have kids, one way to encourage them to play make believe games is to provide them with toys with which they can play their imagination around. And so even with the popularity of modern, electronic and virtual toys, playsets for children are still one of the best gifts you can give your children. And one of the most useful toys you can provide them are play kitchen accessories. Here are reasons you should be happy to spend money buying teeny weenie dining room, toaster, and smoothie sets for your little ones:

1.) They get kids’ attention and keep them occupied at times when you need to do household chores or attend to some matters and the least you would need are little ones wanting to do your work too.

2.) Children love to do what they see their parents are doing, such as cooking. Buying them kitchen toys gives them the opportunity to reenact family activities and get the feel of how it is to be grownups.

3.) They expand the possibilities with which children can enhance their imagination. Basically, playing in their kitchen playsets allows kids to reenact roles of family members; but adding cutlery, birthday cakes, and ice cream scoop sets to their miniature kitchens could spur them to create imaginary parties. Adding grocery items, fruit and vegetable sets to their kitchen ensemble could make them think of setting up imaginary markets to shop from like mom.

4.) They can serve as instructional materials. You can buy for them items that feature healthy food like fruits and vegetables, which you could use in a game that would teach them how to identify healthy foods.

5. Play kitchen accessories can help you discover your child’s interests. If she loves to play with baking sets in the kitchen, you get the idea that the child might want to become a chef someday. You can enhance it by providing the child items she could practice with for her future craft.

You can also encourage role playing games in your kids by participating in their games. Ask some questions related to what they are doing with their toys to make them feel you find their games fun and to tell them that you are interested in their activities. In the process, your kids might assign you a role in the game. If a child asks you to do pretend to eat the cookie she “baked,” go along with it. Aside from the mental, communication and social benefits that your children get from their play, you get an added advantage of spending quality bonding time with them.
